Child Protection

The Foundation recognizes the critical importance of protecting the rights and interests of children. As many of our Students are in fact young adults, their personal data is protected under the Foundations Privacy and Data Disclosure Policy. The Board, Staff, Volunteers and anyone active within the Foundation, will undertake the RSPCC online training course in Child Protection. In addition, we all commit to the following principles:

  • to uphold the principles set forth in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and to take all necessary measures to ensure that children are protected from all forms of abuse, exploitation, and neglect.

  • take all necessary measures to prevent and combat the trafficking of children for any purpose.

  • agree to strengthen their cooperation in matters related to the protection of children, including the exchange of information, best practices, and expertise.

  • take all necessary measures to ensure that children are not subjected to torture or cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment.

  • take all necessary measures to ensure that children have access to education, healthcare, and social services.

  • ensure that children are not involved in armed conflicts, and shall take all necessary measures to protect children who are affected by armed conflicts.

  • to respect the rights of a child to participate in matters affecting them, and to provide children with opportunities to express their views freely in all matters affecting them, taking into account their age and maturity.

  • take all necessary measures to ensure that children are not subjected to discrimination, and promote equal opportunities for all children.

  • take all necessary measures to ensure that children are protected from all forms of violence, abuse, exploitation, and neglect, including sexual exploitation and abuse, and provide children with appropriate support and assistance to overcome the effects of such violence, abuse, exploitation, and neglect.

  • take all necessary measures to ensure that children who are victims or witnesses of crimes receive appropriate treatment, protection, and support, and that their best interests are always taken into account.

  • take all necessary measures to prevent the abduction of children, and ensure the prompt return of abducted children to their country of habitual residence, in accordance with the provisions of the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction, and other relevant international instruments.

  • take all necessary measures to ensure that children are protected from all forms of harmful traditional practices, including female genital mutilation, child marriage, and forced labour.

  • take all necessary measures to ensure that children have access to justice, and that their rights are respected and protected in all legal proceedings.

  • promote international cooperation in matters related to the protection of children, and to work together to ensure that children's rights are respected and protected in all circumstances.
